We are pleased to welcome Shigeru Yabu and Willie Ito, authors of the children’s book Hello Maggie, to launch their newly revised edition of the book at JANM. There will be a book signing after a brief talk about this new edition and the upcoming animated film version that is in the works.

Hello Maggie relates the story of Shig’s childhood pet, a wild magpie, that was his companion while incarcerated at Heart Mountain. Many families had to leave their pets behind when they were taken to camp. The story of their adventures is illustrated by Oscar-winning animator, Willie Ito.

The original edition of Hello Maggie has sold 15,000 copies, and this new version has meant that the book has been out of print for over a year, and its arrival is long-awaited.
