This is a members only or members pre-sale event. You must sign in to verify your eligibility.
James Tadanao Sata (1896–1975), a Japanese immigrant, created some of the most adventurous photographs made in the United States during the 1920s and 30s. His photographs were exhibited and published internationally before he and his family were incarcerated during World War II, a time during which he made drawings and paintings of life in the concentration camps.
JANM welcomes you to JT Sata: Immigrant Modernist (March 16–June 15, 2024) featuring vintage photographs, images of prison camp paintings and drawings by Sata, and more.
Join us for opening remarks and insights directly from the curator Dennis Reed. Enjoy light refreshments and have the opportunity to explore the new exhibition.
